Governance that maintains control, confidence and accountability

Independent asset governance

Clarity, control and confidence over time

Complex assets rarely fail because of insufficient technical capability. They fail because decisions of long-term consequence are made without clear authority, independent governance or defensible evidence, and because execution is allowed to outrun accountability. Across mining, infrastructure and land-based assets, this pattern repeats. Cost, schedule and delivery performance dominate attention, while governance is assumed to exist somewhere within management structures, contracts or reporting frameworks. In reality, it often does not. TacminMadini was established to address this failure.

From delivery to governance

TacminMadini traces its origins to the 1990s through Tacmin Group, delivering EPCM and project management services across major mining and infrastructure developments. That foundation provided direct exposure to the realities of contractor dynamics, commercial pressure, operational handover and asset transition.

In 2018, TacminMadini Australia was established to formalise a deliberate shift: from execution-led delivery to independent, owner-side governance.

Australia’s mature regulatory environment, advanced project controls and digital assurance systems enabled a governance model capable of operating independently of contractors, operators and advisors - and consistently across jurisdictions and asset types.

Today, TacminMadini supports asset owners globally where accountability cannot be delegated and decisions must remain defensible long after execution concludes.

Founder & CEO - Sarel Blaauw  - Perspective

After more than three decades working within mining and infrastructure delivery environments, one lesson has remained consistent: complex assets do not fail for lack of technical capability or effort. They fail when governance falls behind reality, accountability becomes blurred and decisions of long-term consequence are made without sufficient independent oversight.

Years spent across civil infrastructure and open-pit mining, both on site and within delivery teams, revealed how quickly value can be eroded when execution outpaces control. While strong delivery capability is essential, it is not sufficient on its own. As projects grow in scale and complexity, asset owners remain accountable long after execution is delegated, requiring independent governance to keep decisions transparent, defensible and aligned with long-term intent.

TacminMadini was established to fulfil that role. As of 1 January 2026, the firm has fully transitioned to operating exclusively as an independent, owner-side governance business, acting above delivery on behalf of owners. Our focus is clear and unchanged: supporting assets that must endure, perform and remain accountable long after delivery is complete.
